Kings Park
Kings Park is magnificent park and there are so many areas to explore with picnic and barbecue facilities and their own different scenery. Perth Botanic Gardens and Kings Park overlooking the Perth CBD and Swan River is one of Perth's popular tourist and local visitor destinations. Kings Park plants are mostly native Western Australian bush land and trees. Walk around these areas or drive a car around the 400ha of virgin bush land, manicured gardens and brilliant displays of wildflowers during spring.
Swan River
The Swan River estuary flows through the city of Perth. The Swan River, which separates the downtown area from its southern suburbs, provides lush vistas. Near the City, the banks of the Swan River fan out into a wide, sparkling expanse. The foreshore areas come alive on a sunny day; extensive grassed areas and walkways with barbecue and picnic facilities attract sun-lovers of all ages. Australia Day January 26th celebrations are huge on the foreshore with thousands congregating for daylong displays and fun in the sun, culminating in a massive fireworks display that coincides with local radio station.
Festival of Perth
Kings Park Festival will be held over the month of September, and includes spectacular displays of Western Australian wildflowers in bloom in the Botanic Garden and across the Park. The Swan Festival of Lights is a free event promoting and showcasing themes of multicultural harmony and cross-cultural interaction through dance, music, cultural demonstrations and cuisine. Other celebrations include the Festival of Perth in February, the Spring in the Valley Festival in November, the Festival of Fremantle in December and the Western Australian Wildflower Festival at Kings Park in October.
Perth Zoo
The Perth Zoo opened in 1898 with two lions, a tiger, and six staff members. The Perth Zoo is one of the worlds best small zoos and situated close to the South Perth foreshore. The Perth Zoo also participates in a number of breeding programs for endangered species, both indigenous Australian and non-native species. The zoo also includes a Nocturnal House designed in a circular viewing layout that circumnavigates the Australian mainland.

Other attractions in the Perth metropolitan area include the Perth Mint, Stirling Gardens, Lake Monger, the Art Gallery of Western Australia, Western Australian Museum, Concert Hall, Cultural Centre, His Majestys Theatre and the Institute of Contemporary Arts.
