Find art in unexpected places

Albany is part of an amazing public art trail that features world-class murals on grain silos, transformer boxes and infrastructure. The Albany leg of the PUBLIC Silo Trail features an enormous sea dragon mural created by international duo, The Yok & Sheryo. You can also spot artworks on transformer boxes around the city by artists like Helen Ansell and Maesro.

Visit the Field of Light

It’s not around for too much longer (ends April ’19), but if you’re planning a trip to Albany before then, the Field of Light is a must visit. This art installation was created by Bruce Munro in homage to the ANZACS. It features over 16,000 shining spheres along the avenue at Albany Heritage Park and marks the last sight of home for soldiers leaving home for the Great War.

Explore Torndirrup National Park

The Gap, Natural Bridge and the blowholes are all must-visits during any stay in Albany. The Torndirrup National Park is home to these natural, wave-carved formations that can be explored from a number of viewing platforms, lookouts and walking trails in the area. Also be sure to check out the lookouts at Padre White Lookout and the Wind farm at Sand Patch Beach.

Eat your fill at the Albany Farmer’s Market

We always love to pay a visit to the farmers market when on holiday, and the Albany Farmer’s Markets are up there with the best. Talk to the people actually growing the produce in one of Australia’s most well known foodie areas.

‘Gram at Little Beach

Little Beach is one of those places that you see on Instagram and wonder if it’s real. Yes, it’s small but it’s still quiet, with pristine white sand and turquoise water. If you head to the end of Little Beach, you’ll see a track leading up through the bushes past the boulders which will take you to the hidden, and often deserted, Waterfall Beach.
